Integrity counts. Being honest is the most highly regarded management trait, based on a human resources study. Businesses and people do best when they know what is going on around them, what is expected of them, and how to achieve success.
Fun matters. Laughter is great medicine that is best taken regularly. Sure, there are important deadlines, pressures to produce, challenges to be conquered. But think of a time when things were tense and someone said something that made everyone laugh. Laughter can be like the touch of wand that breaks a bad spell – if only for a few moments. And sometimes a few moments are all we need to recharge and refocus.
Balance shifts. There are times when giving 110% to work is the best choice, and times when the ratio should be / can be adjusted. Work and life balance is an ongoing process requiring decisions and trade-offs.
Success is a choice. Everyone is at the helm of his or her own ship and responsible for where it goes. To live the life and have the career we want, we have to become a masterful captain.
Respect is fundamental. Respect is a word that often gets lip service. It shouldn’t.
